BCIS Study Day: TAVI Access Masterclass

October 4

Free – £25

TAVI is now a well-established treatment option in the management of patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis. There are clear data supporting transfemoral access as first choice but even with device improvements, there will remain a group of patients for whom alternative access is still required. In addition, as we progress to treat intermediate risk and younger lower risk patients, the need to keep access related complications to a minimum remains of paramount importance.

The aim of this course is to provide a specific focus on TAVI access using a mixture of lectures, interactive discussion, taped cases, case examples and complications.

The course is suitable for experienced and new TAVI operators, or senior trainees with a subspecialty interest in TAVI.

Topics will include:

•   Access site assessment during work up

•   Adjuncts to the perfect femoral (Ultrasound, micro-puncture, closure devices)

•   Demonstrations of non femoral access including percutaneous axillary

•   Bailout strategies and complication management
